ACSF Promotes Alyssa Sleight to Director of Safety

The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF.aero), a non-profit organization that supports the highest safety standards for more than 300 aviation-focused businesses, charter and fractional operators, announced the promotion of Alyssa Sleight from Programs Manager to Director of Safety.

The ACSF’s President Bryan Burns cited Sleight’s very focused work experience, aviation industry knowledge and education as being key to her advancement. “Along with that, Alyssa’s learned from the best—most notably the ACSF’s first Director of Safety, Russ Lawton,” Burns said. “With her tenure at the ACSF and commitment to learning new skills, she’s a natural fit for this promotion.”

As Director of Safety, Sleight is tasked with helping expand the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), which the ACSF offers in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Sleight will assist ACSF members to enhance and improve their operation with flight data monitoring (FDM) and the newly required safety management system (SMS) standards, per the FAA.

Sleight formerly was the ACSF’s Assistant Director of Safety and Programs Manager for the organization’s various safety initiatives, including the ASAP. Most recently, she participated in several of the Foundation’s monthly ASAP Event Review Committee meetings and organized the back-office logistics of the ASAP training and operations, such as ASAP data collection. She has also provided technical support to ACSF members as well as the FAA, and most recently renewed nearly all ASAP Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) agreements.

“The ACSF has a unique take on ASAP in comparison to the rest of the industry,” explained Alyssa Sleight. “Since joining the ACSF, I’ve learned under my mentor, Russ Lawton, how to manage the relationship between the ACSF, the FAA and various ASAP participants. I’m looking forward to creating a more standardized and efficient means of conducting the third-party ASAP manager. Likewise, I’ll be working to incorporate more effective ways of getting operators trained and reports submitted. I see a lot of opportunity for enhancing the role and processes related to the Safety Director position.”

Sleight is a licensed private pilot and holds a BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, in Daytona Beach, Florida. She is proficient with SMS platforms that house ASAP data, including ACSF QuickBase server.
