Dee Howard Foundation Sponsors UTSA Aerospace Engineering Certificate

The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Engineering has announced the new Aerospace Engineering Certificate beginning in the fall of 2019.

The Certificate in Aerospace Engineering is designed to prepare mechanical engineering degree-seeking students and non-degree-seeking students with a mechanical engineering background with the fundamental engineering knowledge necessary for successful careers in the aerospace industry. It certifies to employers that students awarded the certificate have completed coursework essential to success in entry-level positions in aerospace.

The Certificate is sponsored by the Dee Howard Foundation, whose mission is to inspire, challenge, and empower innovators in aerospace while training a skilled workforce for the San Antonio, Texas Region.

“The Dee Howard Foundation (DHF) was honored to have had the opportunity to collaborate with UTSA in the launch of this certificate and its other aeronautical engineering offerings,” said Wayne Fagan, Foundation Chair.  “The Foundation also looks forward to working with UTSA in the future on the DHF Pre-K thru 12 Aeronautical STEM Initiative, focused on students from underserved areas of our community as well as building an aeronautical pathway for those students and others post grade 12.”

The Dee Howard Foundation also established the Dee Howard Faculty Fellow Endowment in 2013, benefitting a select member of the Mechanical Engineering Department as they advance research and scholarship in aerospace engineering and support undergraduate and graduate students interested in the field.

The Dee Howard Foundation was established in memory of aviation pioneer and entrepreneur Dee Howard for the support of programs that enhance excellence and global leadership of the aviation and automotive sectors in the San Antonio, Texas Region.
