State transportation officials joined local elected officials and airport leaders to cut the ribbon on a terminal building expansion at the Elizabethtown Addington Field Regional Airport. The $2.65 million project was supported by a $2 million Team Kentucky investment to help expand and upgrade the airport, boost economic development and improve the experience for recreational and corporate travelers who use the airport.

“Team Kentucky is committed to improving the airports that travelers depend on each day,” said Kentucky Department of Aviation Commissioner Todd Case. “This investment will help attract businesses, lay the groundwork for economic growth and help strengthen this community for generations to come.”
The project reflects the Commonwealth’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve airport facilities, ensuring they can meet the needs of aviation users and support potential future demand. The project delivered a modern atrium entrance area adding more than 1,800 sq. ft. to the two-story facility, new flight school instructional offices and a large conference room, new and remodeled ADA-compliant restrooms accessible after hours, crew rest areas for layovers and additional features to welcome travelers.
The Addington Field Regional Airport serves Hardin County and surrounding communities, providing access to general aviation and supporting business and recreational aviation activity.
The project highlights the importance of partnerships among state agencies, airport leadership, local communities, and the federal government in maintaining and enhancing Kentucky’s aviation system.

“We appreciate the Kentucky Department of Aviation’s support,” said Carl Swope, chair of the Addington Field Regional Airport Board. “The expansion reflects our commitment to improving our facilities, better serving airport users, and positioning the airport for continued growth in the years ahead.”
The Kentucky Department of Aviation’s (KDA) mission is to provide a safe and secure air transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity, and preserves the quality of our environment and communities. KDA remains committed to supporting the maintenance, enhancement, and growth of Kentucky’s public-use airports, enabling them to serve local economies, connect communities, and support aviation education statewide.
