U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced last week that Louisiana airports will receive $14,860,012.00 in federal funding through his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding will support terminal upgrades, hangar construction, taxiway rehabilitation, and other improvements to enhance passenger safety, travel experience, and operational efficiency across the state.
“Louisiana’s airports welcome visitors, move goods, and support jobs,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These investments improve safety and efficiency today but also make sure our airports keep up with the demands of the future.”
Funding Amount, Recipient and Project Description
$5,778,750.00 – City of New Orleans and New Orleans Aviation Board – This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct the existing north terminal by installing new automated passenger exit lanes to improve the movement of passengers and baggage.
$4,232,101.00 – Shreveport Airport Authority – This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct 8,882 square feet of the existing terminal, including the Federal Inspection Station, that has reached the end of its useful life.
$1,875,000.00 – City of New Orleans and New Orleans Aviation Board – This grant provides federal funding to improve 22,000 square feet of the existing terminal north, including concessions, security, and ground transportation areas.
$712,500.00 – City of Slidell – This grant provides federal funding to clear land for the relocation of transmission lines to enhance safety at Slidell Airport.
$563,000.00 – Beauregard Parish Airport District No. 1 – This grant provides federal funding to construct a new 5,000 square foot hangar for aircraft storage to support airport self-sustainability.
$447,366.00 – Concordia Parish Airport Authority – This grant provides federal funding to construct a new 3,300 square foot hangar for aircraft storage to support revenue generation and self-sustainability.
$325,000.00 – Shreveport Airport Authority – This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct 5,750 square yards of the Northwestern Apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
$300,457.00 – City of Springhill – This grant provides federal funding to expand an existing fuel farm by adding two self-service pumps to increase fuel availability and support airport operations.
$289,800.00 – City of Bastrop – This grant provides federal funding to construct a new airfield drainage system to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
$120,000.00 – Town of Vivian – This grant provides federal funding to construct a new fuel farm by adding one fuel tank to expand fuel availability and support airport self-sustainability.
$108,038.00 – St. Mary Parish Government – This grant provides federal funding for design work to rehabilitate 5,399 feet of Taxiway A pavement to maintain structural integrity and extend its useful life.
$108,000.00 – Town of Many – This grant provides federal funding to construct a new 2,500 square foot hangar for aircraft storage to support airport self-sustainability.
