FAA Accepting Applications for Bessie Coleman Women in Aviation Advisory Committee

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is now accepting applications for the Bessie Coleman Women in Aviation Advisory Committee (BCWAAC). The new committee will provide recommendations to the FAA and Department of Transportation (DOT) on how to attract women and girls to pursue careers in aviation. The FAA is accepting applications in the Federal Register through December 23, 2024.

The FAA is looking for 25 leaders of all backgrounds in industry, academia and government to join the committee. The committee will meet at least twice a year to provide recommendations and respond to assigned tasks from DOT and the FAA to attract more women into aviation careers.

The committee will focus on recommendations to promote the recruitment, retention, employment, education, training, career advancement, and well-being of women in the aviation industry and aviation-focused Federal civil service positions.

The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 directs the FAA to establish the committee under the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
