The Wyoming Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division (WYDOT) published an updated Airport Rates and Charges study in July of 2024. The previous study, published in 2018, only included the states surrounding Wyoming. Last year WYDOT enlisted the help of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) to encourage all states to participate in the survey. While many states do similar studies, most hire consultants to conduct the study for them. WYDOT started conducting the study inhouse as a cost saving measure in 2018 and realized the success of the study. WYDOT then invited all states who wanted to participate at no cost to their taxpayers.

WYDOT can collect this information utilizing a low-cost database platform with the ability to update specific data as it changes. The goal is to allow airports to update their information on a more regular basis as needed. This will allow each state to maintain the most accurate information possible while limiting the labor needed to update a full survey every few years.
The information in this study, collected over two months in late 2023 and early 2024, is available on the WYDOT Aeronautics webpage here: 2024 Rates and Charges. The 2024 Airport Rates and Charges study saw 189 airports participating from 10 states including:

- Utah
- Texas
- South Dakota
- North Dakota
- Nebraska
- Montana
- Mississippi
- Minnesota
- Idaho
During the next study update, WYDOT plans to reach out to all fifty states again, with the help of NASAO, to encourage further participation in the study. The goal of the project is to have one source of information for airport rates and charges available to all airports and the general flying public.
