Students Showcase Artistic Skills to Win Idaho Aviation Art Contest

A dozen Idaho students ages 5 to 18 recently had their artwork selected to win the 2024 Aviation Art Contest through the Idaho Division of Aeronautics.

The contest was held this spring, with submitted artwork depicting the theme “Careers in Aerospace.”

Winners and runners-up were chosen in each of five age-group categories. The first- and second-place winners will receive the following awards/recognition:

First place winners:

Invitation to ride in an airplane
Copy of their artwork signed by our Governor
Congratulatory letter

Second place winners:

Receive $25 in art supplies
Congratulatory letter

Winners will also be featured in the next Aviation Art Calendar

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
