Kansas Aviation Museum Announces 2025 Honor Awards, Aviation Hall of Fame Inductees

The Kansas Aviation Museum has announced that this year’s Honor Awards will take place on October 14^th. Inductees to the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame include Senator Jerry Moran, Dr. Alysia Starkey (K-State Salina Dean/President), Mr. Rick Hamlin and Mr. Mark Schlegel. Each have accomplished careers that have supported and are supporting the work of aviation in Kansas, the nation and across the globe. Lieutenant General Michelle Johnson (Ret.) will be the keynote speaker. Michelle was the Commander of the 22nd at McConnell Air Force Base from 2002-2004, and the first female Superintendent of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Each year, a selection committee considers individuals to be recognized for selection to the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame. Each nominee must have a strong connection to Kansas, either by birth and early life or through career work. The selection committee consists of members from:

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
