Kansas Aviation Expo Promises Week of Exciting Events

kansas aviation expo logo.png Amelia Rose Earhart will open the 2014 Kansas Aviation Expo with stories of her recent round the world adventure, symbolically completing her namesake’s flight from 1937. Included is a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception that will take place in the Commons area of NCAT from 5:00pm to 6:00pm with Amelia’s presentation from 6:00pm to 7pm.

Immediately following Amelia’s presentation, the FAA Central Region will hold a ‘Listening Session’ in which the Regional Administrator and top management from the various disciplines such as Air Traffic, Flight Standards, Airports, Aerospace Medicine and Aircraft Certification will make themselves available to the public. These “Public & Pilot Meet the FAA” Q&A sessions are designed to provide a venue for the aviation community to meet the FAA personally and address their concerns in a public forum.

Beginning at 8:00am Friday September 26th , various speakers will engage the audience with timely topics of interest to all members of the Kansas aviation family. Sessions include aviation law, health & technology, avionics, and unmanned aerial systems. We’ll have sessions that’ll benefit every attendee. One hour continuing legal education is also available, covering NTSB and FAA legal interpretation in a format that parodies the TV show “Jeopardy”.

In partnership with the Wichita Aero Club, Congressman Mike Pompeo will join the Kansas Aviation Expo as the Friday luncheon speaker. The Congressman’s passion for aviation and education is a natural fit for the Kansas Aviation Expo.

For a three day period prior to the 2014 Kansas Aviation Expo, the Fly Kansas Air Tour will visit nine communities across Kansas. Making three stops per day, each stop will feature a different aspect of aviation in Kansas with local school kids at each location. We’ll be carrying the message — aviation is for everyone. Thursday morning following the Air Tour, the Kansas Aviation Expo will be hosting a student career fair with Barrington Irving’s Flying Classroom. Nearly 400 Wichita area high school students will participate in the career exploration fair as they help Barrington launch his global tour.
