The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) has announced that Tim McClung has been named Aviation Director for the Iowa DOT’s Modal Transportation Bureau. He has been part of the Iowa DOT since 2003 and brings over 25 years of aviation and transportation professional experience that includes airport management, fixed-base operator, airport commissioner, commercial pilot with seaplane rating, flight instructor, skydiver, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems pilot.
In his time at the Iowa DOT, McClung has worked with aviation policy, planning, and legislative activities, air service development, integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Iowa, and has collaborated with a wide range of aviation stakeholders on issues related to aviation in Iowa.
Tammy Nicholson, director of the Iowa DOT’s Modal Transportation Bureau says “Tim has extensive experience and a passion for the aviation industry. As Aviation Director, he will work hard to advocate for aviation interests and provide leadership that will benefit aviation stakeholders, citizens, aviation staff and the DOT organization. Those who have worked with Tim in the past know he is dedicated to building and supporting aviation in Iowa and he’s excited to work with the DOT team and stakeholders to identify new strategies/initiatives to advance aviation and the Iowa DOT.”
