SSI Receives FDOT Contract Award for Security Training

SSI, a Tucson company specializing in safety and security e-learning tailored to the aviation industry, was awarded the Florida Department of Transportation contract to provide security training to all Florida public-use airports. SSi, Inc was ranked highest of the respondents who were judged in seven categories:  Key Personnel, Training Course Content, Web-Based Interactive System, Production Studio, Training Records, Quarterly Reporting and Price.  “We are pleased to see that SSi, Inc. scored exceptionally high in the Training Course Content category”, said Fred Karuga, Project Manager for FDOT.  “SSI will be providing courses that include Basic Security Awareness, SIDA Training and Badging Procedures, among other security-related web-based courses to all Florida airports to help them meet TSA regulatory requirements.”

Chris Pheasant, SSi Project Manager, said that they’ve seen how engaging and interactive eLearning improves training efficiency and increases student retention.  "We are also providing all Florida airports with an easy-to-manage recordkeeping portal from which beneficial reports can be extracted," said Pheasant.

Florida airports had a chance first hand to discover the various eLearning courses that SSi will be providing when SSi exhibited at the FAC Conference & Exposition recently held in Hollywood. Interested Florida airports should contact Fred Karuga, FDOT at 850.414.4512 or Fred.Karuga@dot.state.fl.us to designate an Airport Training Coordinator soon.
