Sita EgyptAir.jpg EGYPTAIR has signed a five-year contract with air transport communications specialist, SITA, for the implementation, management and modernization of the airline’s entire communications network. This will provide mission-critical connectivity to EGYPTAIR’s headquarters and across more than 190 sites around the globe.

SITA, as the main provider of network communications to EGYPTAIR, is providing a state-of-the-art network which will ensure secure and reliable connectivity to help increase operational efficiency.

The announcement follows SITA’s recent appointments to work with the Egyptian Airports Company (EAC) and Hurghada International Airport.

EGYPTAIR Holding Company’s Chairman and CEO, Sherif Fathi, said: “We are constantly searching for ways to enhance our operational efficiency and with SITA’s range of IP services, we have a communications solution that covers all of our domestic and international sites and connects them to our headquarters. SITA is unique in offering a complete solution that responds to all of our requirements.”

EGYPTAIR will benefit from a state-of-the art private network with a centralized and secured breakout to the internet and to EGYPTAIR hosts. In addition, SITA’s ServiceNet will allow simple, fast and secure access to more than 20 third-party services from EGYPTAIR’s existing IP VPN connections. As part of the five-year agreement, EGYPTAIR will also deploy SITA messaging services in order to exchange mission-critical information with its partners across the air transport community.

Hani El-Assaad, SITA President, Middle East, India and Africa, said: “Our solutions will enable EGYPTAIR to operate more effectively and efficiently. The technology will cover most of the airline’s domestic and international sites; sales offices, back-offices, and check-in counters.

“SITA has experienced tremendous growth in Egypt in recent years, and we have helped to facilitate the strategic growth of many firms with innovative and creative solutions. This is a great time for SITA to work together with EGYPTAIR to support its business operations and improve its IT and communications to support its ambitious growth plans.”

EGYPTAIR has a strong network of routes throughout the Middle East, Africa and Europe and also flies to several Asian destinations and New York. The airline is in a growth phase and in 2014 carried close to nine million passengers. The implementation of SITA’s network communications will enhance EGYPTAIR’s IT and communications infrastructure to meet both current and future business needs.
