Saab has announced the appointment of Marc Viggiano as President and CEO Saab Sensis Corporation. In this capacity, Viggiano will lead the new subsidiary in strategic growth in the North American defense, civil security and air traffic management markets.
Viggiano will also leverage the Saab Group’s broad portfolio of products, systems and solutions with existing Saab Sensis technologies to provide customers with the most robust, affordable solutions available. He will focus on growing Saab’s position as a high value provider of proven defense solutions in the U.S. market as well as the world-wide leader in air traffic management.
Marc Viggiano has more than 30 years of experience in the design and development of complex civilian and defense sensor and automation systems, and a track record of successful leadership experience. Prior to his appointment, Viggiano was Senior Vice President & Director of Corporate Development for Sensis Corporation, where he was responsible for spear-heading the Company’s strategy and business development. Viggiano also served as Chief Operating Officer at Sensis where he was responsible for all of Sensis’ operating areas. Before joining Sensis, Viggiano worked in Advanced Sensor Systems within General Electric’s Aerospace Group.
Dan-Åke Enstedt, president of Saab North America, said that Marc’s record at Sensis has been one of outstanding performance and accomplishment. During his tenure, Sensis’ defense business became a force in expeditionary radar with wins in several major programs and his guidance further acted to position the company as a recognized leader in air traffic management. "Under Marc’s leadership, I am confident that Saab Sensis will experience solid growth while retaining its focus on innovation, responsiveness and agility,” said Enstedt.
Viggiano has a BSEE from the Rochester Institute of Technology, MSEE from Syracuse University and Executive Master in Leadership from Georgetown University and is a graduate of the National Securities Studies Leadership Program.
Current Saab Sensis Corporation President and CEO Jud Gostin will retire from a full-time role but will continue as an advisor to the company. A successful entrepreneur, Gostin founded Sensis Corporation, the predecessor to Saab Sensis, in 1985 and transitioned the organization from a supplier of defense radar upgrades to a diversified, global provider of aviation and defense solutions.
