BARCLAY ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AT AAAE

Charles "Chip" Barclay announced today his retirement as CEO of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), effective December 1, 2013.

Barclay joined the association as CEO in 1983 and has led the staff during a period of rapid growth and advancement for the organization. Barclay said, "I want to thank the AAAE members, volunteer leaders and staff who have afforded me an exceptional opportunity over the past three decades. I’m very grateful to have been part of a team that has added value to one of aviation’s great institutions. The opportunity to serve airport executives and help grow AAAE has been an honor and a privilege. My thanks to all who have shared the path with me."

AAAE Chair Bruce Carter, A.A.E., the Director of Aviation for the Quad City International Airport, stated "Chip Barclay has been one of the true visionaries in this industry during his 30-plus years as the leader of AAAE. One of the keys to Chip’s success has been his ability to analyze and embrace the ‘big picture,’ always looking forward to new challenges and opportunities. What Chip Barclay accomplished on behalf of AAAE almost defies explanation–unprecedented growth, visionary leadership and unparalleled financial acumen, all while creating a culture of outstanding customer service. On behalf of the past, present and future volunteer leaders of AAAE, we say thank you to Chip and his wife Betsy for a job well done."

The association will conduct a replacement search beginning in May.
