NASAO to Kick-Off Conference and Tradeshow in Nashville

The National Association of State Aviation Officials will kick-off their annual conference and tradeshow this Sunday night at the Nashville, Tennessee Airport Marriott Hotel.

This year’s conference, celebrating 80 years of serving the public interest in aviation, will bring current and former state aviation officials and members of the aviation community, together for a day and half of forums featuring key executives from industry and government to discuss the current state of affairs of the GA community, and take a candid look at regulatory and legislative issues, GA security, SMS and other issues facing the states.

This year, during the NASAO annual awards dinner, special recognition will be given to NASAO alumni – former NASAO members who have served in state aviation positions. The exhibit hall, which has been sold-out, features vendors ready to assist the states in meeting their challenges with products and services.

For more than a decade through the cooperative memorandum of understanding NASAO and FAA championed the development of an efficient airport pavement maintenance and management system.  A direct result of this effort is the FAA PAVEAIR web-based airport pavement management system being demonstrated during a workshop Wednesday morning.  FAA is also holding a User’s Group Meeting Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning as a forum to discuss PAVEAIR and to solicit comments, questions and suggestions on future development.

In addition to NASAO committee meetings and the annual member meeting and round table, NASAO members will also hold the 2nd Annual NASAO/FAA Summit with FAA Regional Administrators.

The State Aviation Journal will publish a special issue in October covering the 80th Anniversary event which will run through Tuesday evening the 13th.
