Kansas Aviation Director Named Secretary in NASAO Special Election

 Ed Young, director of the Kansas Division of Aviation has been elected Secretary of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in a special election held recently.  

Young, who has been the Kansas director since 2005, has been active in the association chairing the NASAO Land Use and Communication Committees. "NASAO plays a vital role in the preservation and advancement of our National aviation system," said Young. "I just hope that I can help effectuate a positive and innovative approach while on the Board."  
 
The special election was held in accordance with NASAO by-laws after former chairman Joe Pestka (Missouri) left state government to open an office in Missouri for Jviation, Inc., an aviation engineering, planning and construction firm.  
 
Replacing Pestka as Chairman is Debbie Alke, Administrator for the Montana Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Division. 
 
Young (Shown above speaking at a NASAO forum in Nashville) is a CFI and commercial pilot as well as an attorney.
