AVL Runway 5K A Huge Success

Once again, racers made their way down Taxiway Bravo, adjacent to the active runway, as part of the annual Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) Runway 5K. Planes took off and landed on the runway as runners and walkers pushed themselves to complete the unique 5K.

The community turned out in full force to support this beloved local event, which raises proceeds for deserving local nonprofits. There was AVL merch, food trucks, music and multiple photo ops adding to the festive atmosphere of the event and keeping with this year’s theme of “Fly Vibes Only.” 5K sponsors set up booths with goodies and information for participants.

AVL would like to thank all of the sponsors of this event, including our top sponsors, the Global Elite group: Gresham Smith, Hensel Phelps, Hunter Subaru, Paradies Lagardére and Signature Aviation. And, of course, we would like to thank the community for your support. This event would be impossible without the participation of the members of our local community.

Proceeds from this event will be distributed to the AB-Tech Aviation Scholarship Fund, WNC Pilots Association Educational Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC.
