Airport Police Chief Selected by the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority

Steven Baldwin Associates announced the selection of Mr. Justin Baum as Airport Police Chief for the Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) in Syracuse, New York.

Baum currently serves as an Officer with the Syracuse Hancock International Airport’s police department and has been a valued contributor to the department’s growth and success. Through his servant leadership approach, Justin has brought operational and administrative improvements to SYR during his short time with the department. In his new role as Airport Police Chief, Baum will collaborate closely with all SRAA departments to develop and implement strategic plans and policies to achieve SRAA goals and objectives.

Officer Baum has over 15 years of law enforcement experience, including as a US Army Military Police Captain, a Sergeant with the Cornell University Police Department, and an Investigator with the Dewitt Police Department, as well as being a small business owner. Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, with minors in American history and military science and leadership from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Officer Baum was part of the initial launch of our Airport Police Department in March of 2023 and has been a valuable part of its growth and success.”

Mr. Baum will assume his new role September 24, 2024.

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
