The Airport Innovation Accelerator – established by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) as a hub for innovation across the aviation community – is pleased to announce the launch of the Airport Innovation Index, a centralized repository of creative aviation projects.
The Airport Innovation Index compiles unique airport efforts from around the country as a way to increase awareness, collaboration and innovation across airports of all sizes. The Airport Innovation Index allows airports to quickly and easily find innovative projects at other airports or enter their own projects and share the results with other airports. Users can search for specific topics or browse for ideas, or find and reach out to their peers to get advice on an upcoming project of their own.
“Airports run creative projects all the time but it’s difficult to know who is doing what,” said the Co-Chairs of the Airport Innovation Steering Group, Justin Erbacci, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Los Angeles World Airports, and Dave Wilson, Director of Airport Innovation at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. “Knowing what our peers are doing allows us to learn together and innovate more effectively.”
“Collaboration is a key ingredient for result-driven innovation,” said Chris Runde, Director of AAAE’s Airport Innovation Accelerator. “The Airport Innovation Index allows the entire industry to build upon the success of our leading innovators.”
Airports can submit projects to the Airport Innovation Index through the Accelerator website. Projects entered into the Airport Innovation Index will be considered for the yearly Airport Innovation Awards, which are presented at the annual Airport Innovation Forum. The 5th annual Airport Innovation Forum will be held July 10-12 in Chicago.
