Wisconsin, Ohio and Kentucky Issue Proclamations Recognizing the Importance of Aviation

Over the past month, three Governors have signed proclamations highlighting the value of aviation in their state. Governors in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Kentucky have all recognized the thousands of jobs and millions in economic impact that aviation, specifically general aviation, provide to their respective states.  The Alliance for Aviation Across America, along with partners NBAA, NASAO, and AOPA praised all of the proclamations.

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland Declares July 16, 2010 "Aviation Industry Awareness Day" in Ohio, the "Birthplace of Aviation"
General aviation industry leaders recently applauded Governor Strickland for signing a  proclamation recognizing general aviation as an important asset to Ohio’s economy.  To learn more about the recent proclamation and read the Alliance’s and general aviation’s response, click here.   
 
Governor Steven Beshear Signs Proclamation Recognizing July 2010 as "General Aviation Appreciate Month" in Kentucky
The Alliance and other major groups commended Kentucky Governor Beshear’s proclamation declaring July 2010 "General Aviation Appreciation Month."    The proclamation highlights general aviation’s $1.75 billion economic contribution to Kentucky, and recognizes general aviation aircraft and airports as a necessity for medical care, law enforcement, tourism, and a variety of other resources and activity.  To read more click here.
 
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle Proclaims July 26 – August, 1 2010  "Wisconsin Aviation Week"
In light of EAA’s Air Venture in OshKosh, Wisconsin this past week, Governor Jim Doyle signed a proclamation declaring July 26 – August 1, 2010 "Wisconsin Aviation Week."  The proclamation highlighted Wisconsin’s 132 public use airports, 41,000 aviation jobs, and general aviation’s annual $3 billion economic contribution to the state.   Aviation groups commended the proclamation, and released the following release which can be read here.
