The 2014 Iowa Aviation Conference is April 22 & 23 at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel (I-35 University Exit).
The conference kicks off Tuesday afternoon (April 22) with an Iowa Public Airports Association General Membership meeting, exhibit hall opening, and networking reception. That evening, pilots, airport operators, and first responders are invited to join conference attendees for a free presentation at 7 p.m. by Captain Al Haynes.
Captain Haynes returns to Iowa where 25 years ago the nation and the world were gripped by the crash of United Airlines Flight 232 at the Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City. 112 people lost their lives that day, but miraculously, 184 people, including pilot Al Haynes, survived the accident. Haynes has been widely credited for his efforts in piloting the damaged aircraft and minimizing the loss of life. He will present on the concept of teamwork in a crisis. The presentation qualifies for an FAA Wings Safety Program. You will not want to miss this one!
