In a message to all of his family, friends and co-workers in aviation, McCall said his contract to manage Sedona is at an end, so he decided to retire after 37 years in airport management.&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\\wp-content\\uploads\/DSCF1760edit3.jpg\" width=\"209\" height=\"284\" align=\"right\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<div>McCAll said the thirteen years he has been at the Sedona Airport was great fun after spending twenty-five years at Chicago&#8217;s O&#8217;Hare. &quot;We were able to bring Sedona into the jet age,&quot; said McCall. He guided the airport in making improvements with a runway widening project and numerous upgrades which allowed Fortune 500 CEOs to hold their annual meetings in Sedona. &quot;The result of the word of mouth with other jet owners carried the airport during the GA [general aviation] downturn so we were able to stay in the black.&quot;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>During Arizona Senator John McCain&#8217;s run for the presidency, McCall said there was great excitement as the Senator would regularly use the airport to get to his Sedona residence. &quot;I got calls and every bribe you can think of from every news outlet in the world asking to let them know what people came<\/div>\n<div>into the airport,&quot; said McCall. &quot;But we kept mum.&quot;&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Over the years McCall has maintained an airport and aviation consulting business at major airports around the country. He will continue to operate that business at least on a limited basis. &quot;Since I turned 62 I have decided not to want to be anywhere on a daily basis.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>McCall said he will be relocating to the greater Phoenix area. &quot;Sedona is too far from Sky Harbor and has added way too much time to my travels around the country.&quot; McCall said he has refrained from taking on clients in Arizona since he worked at Sedona but now may do so. &quot;I have had a great relationship with the ADOT Aeronautics Group and the Arizona Airports Association and am sure we will continue to work together on projects around the state.&quot;&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Sedona is in the first stage of a nationwide search for McCall&#8217;s replacement.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"field_attachment\">\n<div><b>Attachment:<\/b><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"\/\"><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mac McCall has announced that he is stepping down from his position as manager of the Sedona Airport.
