{"id":8047,"date":"2016-09-24T08:49:12","date_gmt":"2016-09-24T08:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=8047"},"modified":"2017-02-18T00:38:07","modified_gmt":"2017-02-18T00:38:07","slug":"greater-rochester-international-airport-wins-40m-revitalization-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/news\/greater-rochester-international-airport-wins-40m-revitalization-award\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Greater Rochester International Airport Wins $40M Revitalization Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/NY-Rochester-Coumoedit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8049\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/NY-Rochester-Coumoedit.jpg\" alt=\"NY Rochester Coumoedit\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NY-Rochester-Coumoedit.jpg 320w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NY-Rochester-Coumoedit-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a>Steve Baldwin Associates (SBA) announced that their client, the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) was one of two winners in Round 1 of New York State&#8217;s &#8220;Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization&#8221; competition.<\/p>\n<p>New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement of the $40 million state award in Rochester on September 21 to a crowd of dignitaries and community and business partners.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the award to transform ROC into a 21st Century airport, Governor Cuomo noted that the overall $63M redevelopment plan would increase economic opportunity, expand retail options, and improve passenger experience, all while promoting tourism and business development in the growing Finger Lakes region.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor noted that ROC&#8217;s proposed design includes world-class passenger amenities, enhanced security measures, premier retail and dining options, a solar canopy over the entrance skyway, state-of-the-art accessibility technology for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (a major constituency of the area) and a wide-scale redesign of the terminal building.<\/p>\n<p>Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo said about the award, &#8220;With this award, we look forward to an updatedairport offering better connectivity and mobility to our region&#8217;s businesses, while welcoming companies to do business here for years to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>SBA said they were happy to assist with the preparation of the airport&#8217;s application for the competition, and they look forward to a continuing role in the implementation of the proposal projects. Michael A. Giardino, Director of Aviation at ROC, stated, &#8220;To develop and submit an application of this magnitude takes a lot of effort, vision, and innovation from a world-class team.
