{"id":7773,"date":"2016-06-25T10:25:26","date_gmt":"2016-06-25T10:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=7773"},"modified":"2017-02-11T00:23:46","modified_gmt":"2017-02-11T00:23:46","slug":"wsdot-aviation-division-hires-new-aviation-planner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/washington\/wsdot-aviation-division-hires-new-aviation-planner\/%20","title":{"rendered":"WSDOT Aviation Division Hires New Aviation Planner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slaybough20WA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7774\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slaybough20WA-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"SlayboughWA\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slaybough20WA-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slaybough20WA.jpg 246w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a>Elizabeth Slabaugh recently joined the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Aviation Division\u2019s team as its newest aviation planner.<\/p>\n<p>Slabaugh\u2019s primary duties at WSDOT will include providing leadership in aviation disaster response exercises; developing a Best Management Practice Guide for Airport Managers \u2013 a solution that resulted from the Airport Investment study; providing technical assistance to airports during the FAA-funded WSDOT Disadvantaged Enterprise Disparity Study; providing support to the Washington Pilot\u2019s Association in developing a \u201cFly Washington Airports\u201d Passport Program to encourage pilots to explore Washington\u2019s airports and conducting \u201c5010\u201d airport inspections.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Western Michigan University, Elizabeth has a strong background in aviation planning, operations and project management. She previously served as an Army officer with the 6-17 Cavalry Regiment stationed in Fort Wainwright, AK, and has extensive experience planning aviation training missions for pilots and soldiers in attack and reconnaissance missions. Elizabeth also served as the lead planner for multiple live-fire training exercises with joint international and special operations forces including the Air Force, United States Marines, Republic of Korea Marines and United States Army Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>Slabaugh piloted the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior while in the Army. She is currently working on her instrument\/commercial fixed wing license and instructor license for rotary wing aircraft.
