{"id":751,"date":"2012-01-04T02:11:33","date_gmt":"2012-01-04T02:11:33","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2012-01-04T02:11:33","modified_gmt":"2012-01-04T02:11:33","slug":"new-aopa-regional-program-focuses-advocacy-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/news\/new-aopa-regional-program-focuses-advocacy-community\/%20","title":{"rendered":"New AOPA Regional Program Focuses on Advocacy, Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association has announced the hiring of seven new, full-time regional managers to better build strong local GA communities and strengthen the organization&rsquo;s relationships with state and local governments across the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>AOPA has had a successful regional representative program for many years, which focused on state and local advocacy. &nbsp;In 2012, the association re-organizes the country into seven regions, headed by regional managers who will work on state and local issues, handle pilot outreach and serve the membership. &nbsp;Many of the previous regional representatives will continue to serve in the new AOPA program, attending aviation events as part of the association&rsquo;s local engagement initiative.<\/div>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<div>The hiring of the regional managers marks the first overhaul of AOPA regional advocacy and representation in decades. &nbsp;AOPA President Craig Fuller said they are pleased and fortunate that many of their &lsquo;new&rsquo; regional managers are familiar faces, having served very capably as AOPA regional representatives.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The new regional managers are:<\/div>\n<div>&middot;<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre\">\t<\/span>Great Lakes region: Bryan Budds<\/div>\n<div>&middot;<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre\">\t<\/span>Northeast region: Craig Dotlo<\/div>\n<div>&middot;<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre\">\t<\/span>Alaska: Tom George<\/div>\n<div>&middot;<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre\">\t<\/span>Southern region: &nbsp;Bob Minter<\/div>\n<div>&middot;<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre\">\t<\/span>California: John L.
