“This year Penny Hamilton was nominated both for Volunteer and Business Person of the Year. Because Penny is already the winner of many personal and community achievement awards, an accomplished writer and a ‘number one’ cheerleader for women in aviation, the awards committee chose to recognize her this year with our special recognition,” said Sharon Brenner, Chamber President. In its 63-year history, this is the third time aLifetime Achievement award has been presented.<\/p>\n

Legend of Aviation and America’s first female pilot for a scheduled airline, Emily Howell Warner, said, “Penny is so deserving of this honor. She has been an aviation inspiration and giving of her time, energies and services to many organizations, especially encouraging women to explore general aviation.”<\/p>\n
Penny is an active member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, volunteering as their Airport Support Network Volunteer since 1997, Colorado Aviation Historical Society, Colorado Pilots Association, Spirit of Flight Center & Museum, Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, National & Colorado 99s, and Women in Aviation International. She is the co-holder of a World’s and National Aviation Speed Record set on October 22, 1991, with her husband, Bill Hamilton. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
