{"id":482,"date":"2011-01-07T22:08:17","date_gmt":"2011-01-07T22:08:17","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-01-07T22:08:17","modified_gmt":"2011-01-07T22:08:17","slug":"phoenix-terminal-radar-approach-control-letter-airmen-no-11-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/arizona\/phoenix-terminal-radar-approach-control-letter-airmen-no-11-01\/%20","title":{"rendered":"PHOENIX TERMINAL RADAR APPROACH CONTROL LETTER TO AIRMEN NO. 11-01"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISSUED: January 7, 2011 EFFECTIVE: January 13, 2011<\/p>\n<p>SUBJECT: VFR TRANSITION ROUTE ALTITUDES OVER PHOENIX SKY HARBOR <br \/>\nAIRPORT <\/p>\n<p>CANCELLATION: JANUARY 12, 2012 <\/p>\n<p>Currently, unplanned IFR missed approach aircraft climbing to 4,000&rsquo; MSL over Phoenix <br \/>\nSky Harbor Airport may potentially conflict with VFR aircraft operating at 3,500&rsquo;\/4,000&rsquo; <br \/>\nMSL on the VFR East\/West Transition Route. <\/p>\n<p>This potential conflict exists because large, turbine-powered Instrument Flight Rules <br \/>\naircraft executing missed approach must climb to 4,000&rsquo; MSL to reach Minimum Vectoring <br \/>\nAltitudes. These aircraft must also be issued a diverging heading to separate them from <br \/>\nother aircraft on final approach to an adjacent runway or from aircraft departing a parallel <br \/>\nrunway ahead. <\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>In order to maintain safety and efficiency of airspace over Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport it <br \/>\nhas become necessary to route VFR aircraft through the Phoenix Class B airspace on the <br \/>\nVFR East\/West Transition Route at an altitude of 4,500&rsquo; MSL or higher as assigned by <br \/>\nATC. <\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please contact Curt Faulk, Operations <br \/>\nSupport Manager, Phoenix Terminal Radar Approach Control, at (602) 306-2514. <\/p>\n<p>Phillip D.
