The airport\u2019s art program officially became a museum 38 years ago. Since the first exhibition, Dental Impressions, of children\u2019s art posters, the Phoenix Airport Museum has presented more than 500 exhibitions highlighting Arizona\u2019s culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, there are more than 1,000 artworks in the museum\u2019s collection, including both architecturally integrated artwork, like artist-designed glass murals, as well as \u201cportable art,\u201d such as paintings, sculptures and fine art prints. The museum includes more than 40 exhibition display areas, with artworks and exhibitions located inside, outside, above and below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Current Phoenix Airport Museum Exhibitions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spectral Alchemy \u2013 Terminal 4, level 3 Gallery (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brings together 15 local artists who create artwork with unique media to explore the creative and enchanting spirit of light.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluoresce \u2013 Terminal 4, level 3, west of food court (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Features seven local artists who use blacklight paint to create vivid artworks that glow under ultraviolet light.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time &amp; Place: Paintings by Martin Dimitrov \u2013 Terminal 4, level 3, in eight display cases on the east and west ends (pre-security, at both ends of level 3, outside of security entrances)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Features more than 75 paintings highlighting Tempe-based artist Martin Dimitrov.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Runway Fashion \u2013 Terminal 4, level 2 cases, near ticketing counters (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Showcases eight vintage flight attendant uniforms designed by notable fashion designers from the Aviation History Collection from the 1940s to 1980s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Desert Innovation \u2013 Terminal 4, level 3 along the passenger bridge between the A and D gates (post-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designed in partnership with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, this large-scale photo mural invites travelers to explore how the region paved the way to become a corridor for creativity and resilience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La Loteria \u2013 Terminal 3, level 4, east end (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Villegas\u2019 series, La Loter\u00eda, transforms each card from the game\u2019s 54 card deck into 54 vibrant paintings inspired by cultural stories, food and everyday items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fly Over the West \u2013 Terminal 3, level 4, west end near PHX Sky Train\u00ae (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To promote its growing sightseeing business in the late 1920s, Scenic Airways captured aerial photographs to advertise that the best way to experience Arizona was from above, by airplane.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Luis Jimenez artist spotlight \u2013 Terminal 3, level 1, northside (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience unique drawings and prints from the notable Mexican American sculptor, Luis Jim\u00e9nez.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rooted &amp; Rising \u2013 Terminal 3, level 4, west end gallery (post-security)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Features 20 artists reflecting the evolving relationship between the desert\u2019s natural and built environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Best Selfie Spots<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only do the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyharbor.com\/at-the-airport\/amenities\/airport-museum\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.skyharbor.com\/at-the-airport\/amenities\/airport-museum\/\">Phoenix Airport Museum<\/a> exhibits offer a great way to witness creativity, but there are also several areas to capture the moment with a perfect selfie, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trace Elements by Daniel Mayer; Terminal 4, level 3, pedestrian bridges to PHX Sky Train\u00ae (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Aviators by Donald Lipski; Terminal 3, level 4, east end (pre-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ultimate Landscape by Merrill Mahaffey; Terminal 3, level 4 (post-security)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Phoenix by Paul Coze; Rental Car Center, level 3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sky Curtain, PHX Sky Train\u00ae Station at the Rental Car Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Immersive artworks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"701\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terrazzo-floor-susan-logoreci_reduced-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35344\" style=\"width:332px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terrazzo-floor-susan-logoreci_reduced-edit.jpg 701w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terrazzo-floor-susan-logoreci_reduced-edit-300x189.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Terrazzo Floors<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Step into art at Phoenix Sky Harbor with multiple immersive artworks across the airport, including 10 artist-designed terrazzo floors throughout the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport system and Phoenix Light Passage by James Carpenter in Terminal 3, level 4, on the north concourse bridge (post-security).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can come see Phoenix Airport Museum artwork that is pre-security and in the Rental Car Center without an airline ticket.
