This distinguished honor recognizes NATCA\u2019s enduring commitment to aviation safety, professionalism, and public service, as well as its vital role in advancing the nation\u2019s air traffic control system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing nearly 20,000 aviation safety professionals, <a href=\"https:\/\/natca.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/natca.org\/\">NATCA<\/a> has long been a leading advocate for modernizing and enhancing the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System. Through engagement with industry, government partners, and policymakers, NATCA has helped advance technology, training, and workforce development while ensuring the highest safety standards for the flying public. The union, which is approaching its 40th anniversary, has served as a fierce advocate for its members as they have worked through historic shutdowns without pay while maintaining the safety of the National Airspace System. At the same time, NATCA members continue to maintain the busiest and most complex airspace in the world with the highest safety standards, even amid aging infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NATCA\u2019s leadership in promoting safety initiatives, operational excellence, and the well-being of air traffic professionals has strengthened the foundation of U.S. aviation. Its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and service reflects a deep understanding that a safe and resilient aviation system is essential to economic growth, national security, and global connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe National Aviation Hall of Fame is honored to recognize the National Air Traffic Controllers Association with the 2026 Milton Caniff Spirit of Flight Award,\u201d said Aimee Maruyama, NAHF President and CEO. \u201cNATCA\u2019s dedication to safety, advocacy for its workforce, and leadership in advancing the nation\u2019s air traffic control system exemplify the spirit of service and responsibility this award represents. Their work aligns closely with our mission to celebrate those who elevate aviation in service to all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NATCA President Nick Daniels expressed gratitude on behalf of the organization\u2019s members for the recognition. \u201cThis honor belongs to the dedicated air traffic controllers, engineers, and other aviation safety professionals who serve the public every day,\u201d Daniels said. \u201cOur members are committed to keeping the flying public safe while supporting a modern, efficient, and resilient National Airspace System. We are proud to accept this award in recognition of their professionalism, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to aviation safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award will be presented at the President\u2019s Reception on September 23, 2026, held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C., as part of the NAHF\u2019s 62nd annual <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaviation.org\/programs\/enshrinement\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/nationalaviation.org\/programs\/enshrinement\/\">Enshrinement Ceremony<\/a> to be held the following evening, September 24, 2026, at The Anthem.
