The design plan currently includes 35 hangars, in a combination of sizes.

More than 400 aircraft are based at KHEF currently, but owners face a wait list of up to three years. The airport is situated 16 miles south-southwest of Dulles International Airport (KIAD), and users enjoy access through the adjacent Broad Run Station to the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) train system, by which they can travel via Metro connection into the heart of Washington, D.C.

Juan E. Rivera, airport manager for Manassas, expressed enthusiasm for the approval. “We are pleased to welcome High Flying Hangars to Manassas Regional Airport,” said Rivera. “This multimillion-dollar investment will help meet the growing demand for aircraft hangar space and represents a significant commitment to the continued growth and success of our airport.”

“We are delighted to welcome High Flying Hangars as one of the newest businesses at Manassas Regional Airport,” said Rod Hall, chairman of the Manassas Regional Airport Commission. “Their investment is a strong vote of confidence in our airport, our region, and the pro-business environment we continue to cultivate. Manassas Regional Airport is a hub of robust general aviation activity, and investments like this reinforce the airport’s role as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and continued momentum for the broader community.”

Kenny Hinkes, founder and CEO of High Flying Hangars highlighted the importance of the development for HFH as well as the community. “With the close proximity that the Manassas Regional Airport has to the bustling Northern Virginia tech centers and Washington, D.C., metro area, it’s the airport of choice for many pilots and professionals needing convenient access to not only their airplane but also business or leisure options,” said Hinkes. “Pilots wanting to base at KHEF have faced long wait lists and less-than-new hangar facilities.
