This funding was included in the five-bill appropriations package approved by Congress and signed into law by the President yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur regional airports are critical to connecting rural communities and supporting regional economies across our state,\u201d said Sen. Moran. \u201cThese resources will allow for much-needed infrastructure improvements to bolster aviation safety and support Kansans\u2019 aviation needs for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a summary of the projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: Kearny County Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $11,250,000 for a new runway at Kearny County Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority (MTAA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $5,986,000 will remove the existing North Apron at Forbes Field and replace it with a new concrete surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: City of Junction City<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $4,038,000 to rehabilitate the airport runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: Salina Airport Authority<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $1,000,000 to conduct a thorough study that lays the groundwork for the operation of UAS and AAM in and around the Salina Regional Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: City of Ottawa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $2,500,000 for the replacement of a concrete taxiway with similar grades and alignment to its current runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipient Name: Miami County<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Request: $1,800,000 to extend Runway 3\/21, as well as lay a new aircraft turnaround with complementary lighting equipment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) \u2013 member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation \u2013 directed more than $26 million in federal investments to repairs and safety improvements at regional airports in Kansas.
