Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced that three Kansas communities have secured over $19 million in federal Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) funding to bolster local airport infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The funding from the Federal Aviation Administration\u2019s Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program, combined with over $1.5 million in matching funds from the Kansas Infrastructure Hub and Build Kansas Fund, brings the total investment for this round of airport infrastructure grants to more than $20.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInvesting in our airports is crucial for enhancing connectivity and supporting local economies,\u201d Governor Laura Kelly said. \u201cThese projects are receiving vital infrastructure grants, which will not only improve our airports and communities, but also strengthen the entire state\u2019s transportation network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City of Lyons and Rice County \u2013 Construct T-Hanger & Taxilanes Build Kansas Funding – $5,400 Federal Funding Awarded – $108,000 Applicant Contribution – $285 Total Project – $113,685<\/p>\n\n\n\n
City of Newton \u2013 Runway Rehabilitation Build Kansas Funding – $73,150 Federal Funding Awarded – $1,463,000 Applicant Contribution – $3,850 Total Project – $1,540,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wichita Airport Authority \u2013 Jabara Airport Land Acquisition Build Kansas Funding – $51,750 Federal Funding Awarded – $1,092,500 Applicant Contribution – $455,750 Total Project – $1,600,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wichita Airport Authority \u2013 Pavement Rehabilitation Build Kansas Funding – $1,344,816 Federal Funding Awarded – $13,448,169 Applicant Contribution – $149,425 Total Project – $14,942,410<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wichita Airport Authority \u2013 Terminal Rehabilitation Build Kansas Funding – $180,000 Federal Funding Awarded – $3,800,000 Applicant Contribution – $20,000 Total Project – $4,000,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these five awards, the Build Kansas Fund has provided the required match dollars for 50 other federal grant awards across Kansas. The combined total investment by the Build Kansas Fund in all projects is over $36.6 million, which has resulted in federal grant awards of more than $104.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kansas Infrastructure Hub connects multiple state agencies and serves as a resource center for Kansas communities to identify best practices for maximizing IIJA funding opportunities.
