The new hangar is expected to be completed by spring 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guymon Municipal Airport and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) marked the start of construction on a new 120-foot by 100-foot hangar with a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 17, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction is a core initiative of the ODAA Statewide Hangar Program, an effort led by the ODAA to address a shortage of hangar space, stimulate economic growth, increase revenue-generating storage at airports, and expand aviation business opportunities across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The estimated $2.3 million project is funded through a collaborative partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contributing about $1.3 million, the ODAA providing about $920,000 and the local airport sponsor covering the remaining $115,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith Guymon\u2019s upcoming hangar construction, we\u2019re strategically addressing the need to improve access to essential hangar space in Oklahoma\u2019s panhandle,\u201d said Grayson Ardies, Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics executive director. \u201cBy supporting more traffic and encouraging longer stays, we are directly boosting the airport\u2019s revenue potential and overall vitality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Micheal W. Shannon, Guymon city manager, agreed, highlighting the importance of future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe construction of our new transient hangar marks a major milestone for the Guymon Municipal Airport and for the continued growth of our community. This facility gives us the ability to safely accommodate jet aircraft, support business travel, and attract new economic opportunities to the region. It\u2019s an investment in our future\u2014one that enhances our infrastructure, strengthens our local economy, and ensures Guymon remains a competitive and welcoming destination for aviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The improvement is administered through ODAA\u2019s five-year revolving Airport Construction Program (ACP), which is provided in cooperation with the FAA and airport sponsors. The ACP&#8217;s core mission is to support the combined goal of developing and maintaining a robust statewide airport system essential for Oklahoma\u2019s business, transportation, and commerce. It features two runways: Runway 18\/36 (5,900 feet long by 100 feet wide) and Runway 06\/24 (1,795 feet long by 200 feet wide).
