The awards were presented on October 7 at the 2025 Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates Annual Conference held in Lake Charles, Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the whole department, congratulations to our award winners,\u201d said DOTD Secretary Glenn Ledet, Jr. \u201cThe multimodal commerce aspect of DOTD is a major and critical component of the agency, and air travel is an integral part of our transportation infrastructure for passengers and cargo alike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award winners are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Louisiana Airport of the Year &#8211; General Aviation: Chennault International Airport (Lake Charles)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>David Slayter Memorial Louisiana Aviation Professional of the Year: Maurice Songy (Acadiana Regional Airport\/LeMaire Memorial Airport)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allen R. Taylor Legacy Award: Scott Gammel (Alexandria International Airport)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to Maurice \u201cMoe\u201d Songy and Scott Gammel, as well as the Chennault International Airport, for being winners of these prestigious awards,\u201d said DOTD Deputy Secretary Julia Fisher-Cormier. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to recognize excellence in aviation, and we\u2019re proud to have these winners represent that significant mode of transportation in our state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards recognize the hardworking airport sponsors and aviation professionals in Louisiana, and they also recognize superior achievement and leadership in the state\u2019s aviation field.
