The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has awarded more than $2 million in state grants to support improvement projects at 27 local airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The grants are part of ALDOT\u2019s Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program. The program provides financial assistance and technical support to public-use airports across the state. Eligible projects may include land acquisition, runway upgrades, facility repairs, maintenance and operational improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLocal airports are critical to connecting our communities and supporting Alabama\u2019s economy,\u201d said Frank Farmer, Bureau Chief of ALDOT\u2019s Aeronautics Bureau. \u201cThis funding helps strengthen infrastructure, improve safety and support essential air services in all parts of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These grants reflect ALDOT\u2019s continued investment in the state\u2019s air transportation system, which supports emergency response, commerce, tourism and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program was established to assist airports with the planning, construction and maintenance of aviation facilities. ALDOT may also provide engineering and technical support as needed for approved projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
