{"id":32704,"date":"2025-09-02T16:51:01","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T16:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=32704"},"modified":"2025-09-02T16:51:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T16:51:02","slug":"taking-off-students-get-exclusive-bizav-career-insights-at-nbaa-bace-collegiate-connect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/aviation-education\/taking-off-students-get-exclusive-bizav-career-insights-at-nbaa-bace-collegiate-connect\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Taking Off: Students Get Exclusive Bizav Career Insights at NBAA-BACE Collegiate Connect"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the industry seeks to grow the ranks of future leaders, the National Business Aviation Association\u2019s (NBAA\u2019s) 2025 Collegiate Connect program will provide college students with a firsthand look at the many opportunities business aviation has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collegiate Connect takes place Thursday, Oct. 16, on the final day of the NBAA Business Aviation Convention &amp; Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), Oct. 14-16 in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free to college students, faculty and chaperones with a school\/university ID, the program will present student-focused programming and opportunities, including the opportunity to hear from industry leaders and meet with hundreds of exhibitors at the Las Vegas Convention Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCollegiate Connect is an essential event for any student exploring a career in business aviation,\u201d said NBAA Senior Vice President Events and Professional Engagement Jo Damato, CAM. \u201cThis program provides an unmatched chance to engage directly with industry leaders and connect with the companies shaping the future of the field. It gives students the opportunity to stand out and become more than just a name on an internship, or job application.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a welcome from NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, the first panel discussion will be \u201cNavigating Your Career in Business Aviation: Insights from Industry Professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees will get perspectives from industry pros representing a range of career stages \u2013 from up-and-comer, to seasoned veteran \u2013 and learn tips about breaking into the industry and developing a career in areas such as management, maintenance, dispatch, piloting and flight operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea for the panel came from former NBAA team member Noah Yarborough, who today is regional vice president, North America for Signum Aviation. Yarborough attended the program in the late 2010s as a college student, which first led to an NBAA internship, and later, full-time employment at the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA\u2019s Collegiate Connect is an ideal networking opportunity, because everyone is so welcoming, and wants to involve students as much as possible, because they\u2019re the future,\u201d he said. \u201cIt can be scary as a college student, you might think, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m just a student, that people don\u2019t want to talk to me.\u2019 But in fact, it\u2019s not true. People want that interaction. They want to help you develop your career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following that session will be a networking tour, where students will choose from nine career categories. The breakout groups will include like-minded students, along with young professionals who work in each of the nine fields, and will offer an opportunity to network, ask questions and visit exhibitors relevant to their career interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The career categories include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Airport business<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broker\/sales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flight\/cabin attendant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation and technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marketing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pilot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scheduler\/dispatcher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Collegiate Connect ends with an afternoon Career Fair, where students can connect with NBAA, speak with recruiters and get their headshot taken.
