AURA, a leader in secure and reliable communications solutions for the aviation industry, received a FAA Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) contract to demonstrate and validate technologies in support of the safe integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System (NAS).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"395\" height=\"229\" src=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/npuasts-logo-copy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30840\" style=\"width:233px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/npuasts-logo-copy-1.jpg 395w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/npuasts-logo-copy-1-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The NPUASTS will work closely with AURA as the UAS will be using the Test Site\u2019s Nationwide Certificate of Authorization to demonstrate the company\u2019s voice capabilities within the project by AURA\u2019s mission includes qualitative and quantitative measurements of voice quality, intelligibility, and end-to-end latency, showcasing AURA&#8217;s unique ability to meet the voice latency requirements of RTCA. Flights are planned in Mayville, ND, approximately 40 miles south of Grand Forks Air Force Base.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"169\" height=\"230\" src=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trevor-Woods-3-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30838\" style=\"width:121px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Trever Woods<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with AURA is a vital step in advancing UAS technologies,\u201d said Trevor Woods, Executive Director of NPUASTS. \u201cIts innovative communications solutions are pivotal for the safe integration of UAS into the national airspace. We look forward to collaborating on this important project to enhance airspace operations and ensure safer skies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AURA will provide a voice relay that enables a remote pilot of an unmanned aircraft to communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) as if onboard the aircraft, a critical factor for safe and effective airspace integration. Its network is designed to provide command-and-control and voice services, leveraging aviation-dedicated frequencies to enable beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) UAS flight.
