Department of Transportation\u2019s Division of Aviation. \u201cThis funding allows us to continue making vital infrastructure improvements to meet the needs of our communities and travelers, ensuring we keep pace with future demand and offer an elevated experience at our airports.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The FAA program, which is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, made the announcement last week, as part of its ongoing initiative to invest in airports, and improve the economy and the nation\u2019s transportation network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The NCDOT Division of Aviation will help administer the grants to the following North Carolina Airports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Laurinburg-Maxton Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Awarded $1 million to help replace the general aviation terminal. This will enhance services for private and business aviation users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe upgraded terminal will allow us to better serve our community and visitors, providing a more welcoming and functional space for pilots and passengers,\u201d said Guy McCook, Chair of the Board at Laurinburg-Maxton Airport. \u201cThis investment is a big step forward in supporting both local travel and business development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Wilkes County Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Awarded $1.5 million to help replace the airport\u2019s general aviation terminal and support growing regional air travel needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe new terminal will provide a more efficient, comfortable experience for travelers and strengthen our role as a local economic hub,\u201d said John Yates, Wilkes County Manager. \u201cThis upgrade marks a commitment to our community and its continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Raleigh-Durham International Airport<\/strong> also received funding to support expansion and modernization projects, aimed at increasing capacity and enhancing passenger services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Airport Terminal Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, dedicates $1 billion annually over five years to modernize airport terminals across the nation.
