{"id":28869,"date":"2024-06-03T21:47:45","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T21:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28869"},"modified":"2024-06-03T21:47:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T21:47:47","slug":"arizona-airports-association-announces-awards-of-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/arizona\/arizona-airports-association-announces-awards-of-excellence\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Arizona Airports Association  Announces Awards of Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Arizona Airports Association (AzAA) awarded the Airport\nExecutive of the Year, Corporate Member of the Year, and the President\u2019s Award\nat its annual spring conference held in Yuma, AZ at the end of April.\nRecipients included Ms. Gladys Brown, C.M., C.A.E., Airport Executive of the\nYear; Mr. Ryan Toner, P.E., Corporate Member of the Year; and Ms. Carmen Rose,\nP.E., President\u2019s Award winner. Each honoree has made lasting positive impacts\non airports in Arizona and within the organization, and AzAA recognizes their\noutstanding contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Gladys Brown, C.M., C.A.E, currently serves as the\nAirport Director at Yuma International Airport (KNYL) and the small rural\nairport Rolle Airfield (Aux 4). Prior to becoming the Airport Director, Ms.\nBrown was the Deputy Airport Director and originally joined the Yuma County\nAirport Authority (YCAA) in 2009 as Director of Operations. Over the course of\nher tenure at YCAA, Ms. Brown has been awarded numerous industry awards and\nrecognitions, including the California Maritime Academy 2018 Distinguished Alumni\nAward, the American Association of Airport Executives \u2013 Southwest Chapter\n(SWAAAE) 2017 Executive of the Year, and the AzAA 2017 Airport Executive of the\nYear. Additionally, under her leadership, Yuma International Airport has been\nselected twice as the Arizona Department of Transportation\u2019s Arizona Airport of\nthe Year in 2015 and 2021. Ms. Brown is a Past President of AzAA and regionally\nserves on the Board of Directors as the At-Large Director of SWAAAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Brown\u2019s unwavering commitment to AzAA and other industry\norganizations, dedicated leadership practices, mentorship beliefs and efforts,\nand advocacy efforts on behalf of Arizona airports and collaborations with\nnumerous community partners are attributed to her receiving this year\u2019s\nExecutive of the Year recipient. As noted in her nomination, Ms. Brown \u201cis\ntruly an exceptional airport executive who has dedicated herself [as] an active\nand effective leader within the community and aviation industry on the local,\nstate, and federal level\u201c\u2026.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Ryan Toner, P.E., currently serves as Vice President and\nAirport Development Business Unit Leader at Dibble, a multi-discipline\nplanning, engineering, and design firm headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr.\nToner is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Arizona and Colorado\nand has over 19 years in the industry. He has been with Dibble since 2011. Mr.\nToner has been an active and engaged member of AzAA over the last ten years and\nserved as Associate Director from 2016 \u2013 2018. Mr. Toner has \u201cconsistently\nfostered not only an environment of collaboration on behalf and for the\nbetterment of [the AzAA] organization, but has also selflessly given his time,\nboth as an industry professional and as a volunteer, for our efforts across the\nstate. Not only does he maintain a high-level of dedication to AzAA, but he\nalso works quite diligently to ensure other professional organizations (AAAE,\nACC, etc.) both communicate and align with AzAA\u2019s goals,\u201d as stated in his\nnomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Carmen Rose, P.E., currently serves as the State\nAviation Engineer with the Arizona Department of Transportation \u2013 Aeronautics\nDivision. Previously she spent 15 years as a private consultant as a Project\nManager working for numerous airport clients across the state. She has been\nassociated with AzAA since 2011 and served as Associate Director from 2019 \u2013\n2021. Ms. Rose volunteers on several AzAA committees and has been organizing\nthe annual spring conference golf tournament since 2023.
