Among its provisions, the extension of the Alliance for System Safety\nof UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE), FAA\u2019s Center of Excellence for UAS\nprograms, stands out as a crucial initiative driving innovation and\ncollaboration in the UAS industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Roger Wicker, the senior senator representing\nMississippi and a senior member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science,\nand Transportation, championed this legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMississippi State University continues to be a leader in\nthe FAA\u2019s Centers of Excellence program for unmanned aircraft system research,\u201d\nsaid U.S. Senator Roger Wicker. \u201cThis legislation will keep the university at\nthe epicenter of aviation innovation, and I am proud to have supported it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mississippi State University is recognized as the leading\nuniversity for the ASSURE program and has played a pivotal role since the\nprogram\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have had the privilege of being involved with the ASSURE\nprogram since its inception, and it has been truly remarkable to witness the\ngrowth and significant impact the program has had on the UAS industry,\u201d said\nDr. David Shaw, Provost and Executive Vice President at Mississippi State\nUniversity. \u201cFrom the outset, the program\u2019s mission has been clear: to provide\nhigh-quality research and support to autonomy stakeholders, both domestically\nand internationally, in order to safely and efficiently integrate autonomous\nsystems into the national and international infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comprised of 29 of the world\u2019s leading research institutions\nand more than a hundred leading industry and government partners, ASSURE is at\nthe forefront of UAS research and development.&nbsp;\nWith a comprehensive portfolio spanning from small drones to large-scale\nUAS, ASSURE members contribute invaluable expertise across various research\ndomains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The extension of the ASSURE program aligns with the\noverarching goal of supporting the growth of the UAS market into its\nmulti-billion-dollar potential. By conducting research that prioritizes safety,\neffectiveness, and efficiency, ASSURE aims to facilitate the seamless\nintegration of UAS alongside manned aircraft worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cASSURE is not only about advancing technology, but also\nabout increasing commerce and enhancing overall public safety and benefit,\u201d\nsaid Col. Stephen P. Luxion, Ret., Executive Director, ASSURE FAA Center of\nExcellence for UAS. \u201cAs we continue to navigate the complexities of UAS\nintegration, I am thrilled to see the great work of the ASSURE program persist\nand evolve. Together, we are shaping the future of autonomous systems and\npaving the way for a safer, more interconnected world.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA Reauthorization Act has also established a pivotal\ncredentialing authority within the FAA&#8217;s program of record known as ASSUREd\nSafe.
