This\nbill allocated $10 million in funding to support airport terminal projects\nacross the state, representing a significant investment in enhancing South\nDakota\u2019s aviation infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe SDATP funds will play pivotal role in strengthening the\naviation infrastructure and enhancing economic development in our state,\u201d said\nJoel Jundt, Transportation Secretary. \u201cThe SDATP will help our South Dakota\nairports meet growing demands and improve services for residents and visitors\nalike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SDATP funds are unique, as they are one-time\nappropriations distinct from the traditional Aeronautics Commission policies.\nApplicants must choose between utilizing State Aeronautics Trust Funds or SDATP\nfunds for their terminal projects. Applicants will not only need to meet\neligibility requirements, but also present their grant requests to the\nAeronautic Commission who will ultimately decide which projects to fund and the\namount of funding to be allocated to each project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible projects for SDATP funding must meet stringent\ncriteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Projects must be part of the Airport Capital\nImprovement Plan or included in the National Plan of Integrated Airports\n(NPIAS) submitted yearly to the state.<\/li><li>Projects must receive federal funding through at\nleast one year of Airport Improvement Program (AIP) federal entitlements and\nthe Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG)\nallocation. This includes having submitted an application, awarded a grant, or\ncommitted to applying in the next federal funding round.<\/li><li>Projects must not have been completed by the\napplication deadline and must be scheduled to receive federal grants by Monday,\nSept. 30, 2025, to retain eligibility.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>SDATP funds are designated strictly for construction\nreimbursement and exclude costs related to project planning, design, and\nadministration.
