General\naviation supports a vital role in the state\u2019s response to business development,\njob creation, aerospace manufacturing, aviation education, emergency\nmanagement, agricultural support, and search and rescue operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the whole department, we recognize the\nsignificant impacts and contributions of general aviation in Louisiana,\u201d said\nDOTD Secretary Joe Donahue. \u201cDOTD encompasses numerous transportation modes.\nThe Office of Multimodal Commerce is a major component of the agency, and the\nsafety of air travel is an extremely important part of our infrastructure for\npassengers and cargo alike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_2815-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28543\" width=\"265\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_2815-edit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_2815-edit-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>General aviation transforms the way people and goods move\naround Louisiana and the nation, uniting distant markets and enhancing the\nstate\u2019s economy. Throughout Louisiana, the 61 general aviation airports provide\nsupport and stimulate the economy by attracting and retaining businesses that\nallow companies to move people and goods in a timely and safe manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General aviation contributes over $1.1 billion in economic\nimpact and supports over 10,000 jobs across the state, with an annual payroll\nof more than $469 million.
