The students experienced flight from behind the yoke\nalongside a certified flight instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe solution to the pilot shortage is a robust pipeline for\naviation workforce development. Now more than ever it\u2019s important to continue\nto show students in our county the value of a career in aviation,\u201d said\nFairfield County Airport Director Denise Bryan C.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducation and economic impact are at the core of Aviation\nWeek. By introducing high schoolers to viable career options within our state,\nwe strengthen the aviation industry alongside the state\u2019s economy. There are numerous\nflight schools and educational institutions right here in South Carolina poised\nto train the next generation of pilots, aviation maintenance technicians and\nskilled aircraft assemblers,\u201d Bryan added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owned by Brian Steed, S&amp;S Aviation is the airport\u2019s\nfixed-base operator, providing flight instruction, avionics and aircraft\nmaintenance. S&amp;S Aviation is donating the aircraft, fuel and flight\ninstructors\u2019 time for the discovery flight operations, and it is the company\u2019s\nfifth year participating in this program as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Carolina Aviation Week is a statewide celebration of\nthe economic and education impact of airports and the aviation industry.\nCelebrated April 21-27, Aviation Week is planned in partnership by South\nCarolina Aviation Association (SCAA) and South Carolina Aeronautics Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCAA actively promotes and encourages aviation and airport development to meet air transportation needs and assist the state in achieving economic development goals. Its membership is comprised of airports and aviators across South Carolina, as well as aviation industry partners.
