{"id":28374,"date":"2024-04-15T15:01:07","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T15:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28374"},"modified":"2024-04-15T15:01:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T15:01:08","slug":"space-development-agency-partners-with-auburn-university-research-and-innovation-campus-for-logistical-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/alabama\/space-development-agency-partners-with-auburn-university-research-and-innovation-campus-for-logistical-support\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Space Development Agency Partners with Auburn University Research and Innovation Campus for Logistical Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Auburn University is making space for the Space Development\nAgency (SDA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located just outside Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, the new\nAuburn University Research and Innovation Campus (AURIC) is set to become a\nbase of technical support operations for the SDA, the sole arm of the United\nStates Space Force operating in the state of Alabama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to logistical support, the partnership will\nprovide opportunities for collaboration between the SDA and the Auburn\nUniversity Applied Research Institute located within AURIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ENG &#8211; SDA_1280.jpg&#8221;This new phase of Auburn&#8217;s\nrelationship with the SDA is especially rewarding because it perfectly aligns\nwith the original vision for the Auburn University Research and Innovation\nCampus,&#8221; said Steve Taylor, senior vice president for research and\neconomic development. &#8220;We designed this cutting-edge campus not only to\nfacilitate research but to be the go-to destination for government and industry\nentities within Redstone looking to accommodate and even train their workforce.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taylor is especially pleased that the first outside entity\nto raise its flag over AURIC is space focused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Auburn&#8217;s reputation for helping the nation remain the\ndominant power in space is pretty well known,&#8221; Taylor said. \u201cOur\nrelationship with NASA, of course, is practically second to none among\nuniversities. We have also collaborated with the Missile Defense Agency and\nSpace and Missile Defense Command on Redstone to support their efforts to\ndefend our nation. This partnership with the Space Development Agency is yet\nanother important step for Auburn as we strengthen our ties with the U.S. Space\nForce and help it accomplish its mission.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDA director Derek Tournear agrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSDA is committed to empowering our talented team of\nprofessionals to deliver needed space-based capabilities to the joint\nwarfighter through development, fielding and operation of the Proliferated\nWarfighter Space Architecture in low-Earth orbit,\u201d Tournear said. \u201cWe are\ngrateful for this collaboration with Auburn University Research and Innovation\nCampus, which provides essential office space for SDA personnel located near\nthe SDA Space Operations Center-South at Redstone Arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auburn University is making space for the Space Development Agency (SDA).
