Select local consumers will be able to order eligible menu items from Wendy\u2019s\u00ae \u2014 the pilot\u2019s first restaurant partner \u2014 through the DoorDash marketplace and have them delivered via drone. This follows the drone delivery pilot program that <a href=\"https:\/\/about.doordash.com\/en-au\/news\/doordash-and-wing-announce-pilot-program-to-make-drone-delivery-available-via-doordash-app-in-australia\">DoorDash and Wing launched in Australia in 2022<\/a> and has since expanded to three locations in Queensland with over 60 participating merchants, marking the first time that Wing integrated its drone delivery service within another marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wing-DoorDash-Wendys_image2-Credit_-Wing-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28242\" width=\"261\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wing-DoorDash-Wendys_image2-Credit_-Wing-edit.jpg 800w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wing-DoorDash-Wendys_image2-Credit_-Wing-edit-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cWe are excited to\nexpand our partnership with Wing in the U.S. to integrate drone delivery into DoorDash\u2019s\necosystem,\u201d said Harrison Shih, Senior Director of DoorDash Labs. \u201cAt DoorDash,\nwe are committed to advancing last-mile logistics by building a multi-modal\ndelivery platform that serves all sides of our marketplace. We\u2019re optimistic\nabout the value drone delivery will bring to our platform as we work to offer\nmore efficient, sustainable, and convenient delivery options for consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cExpanding our\npartnership with DoorDash and launching in the U.S. is a direct result of the success\nwe\u2019ve seen from our initial collaboration in Australia, where Wing has served\ntens of thousands of customers via the DoorDash app for over a year now,\u201d said\nCosimo Leipold, Head of Partnerships, at Wing. \u201cWing has now madeover 350,000\ndeliveries across three countries and looking ahead we are focused on providing\na fast, affordable and safe service to our partners so they can better serve\ntheir customers. Franklin Street,\nthey will see the option to have their meal delivered by drone on the checkout\npage. Once they select drone delivery and place their order, it will be\nprepared and packaged at the Wendy\u2019s location and delivered via a Wing drone, typically\nin 30 minutes or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Through this\npartnership, DoorDash aims to provide access to an innovative delivery solution\nfor consumers and merchants, complementary to traditional Dasher-fulfilled\norders. The new offering provides a quick and sustainable delivery option for\nsmall, short-distanced orders while creating the potential for incremental\norder growth across the platform. The pilot will initially be available in\nChristiansburg with plans to explore other cities in the U.S. later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The drone delivery\npartnership with Wing was born out of DoorDash Labs, DoorDash\u2019s robotics and automation\narm.
