The funding will be used to upgrade existing or build new\ncontrol towers, delivering on President Biden\u2019s Investing in America agenda\nthat is rebuilding our infrastructure in every corner of the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law goes to\nsmaller and regional airports to improve safety and support critical aviation\noperations such as commercial passenger flights, cargo flights, emergency\nservices, agricultural aviation, and flight training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s announcement is another example of the Biden-Harris\nAdministration\u2019s commitment to modernizing America&#8217;s aviation system and\nkeeping it safe and efficient for generations to come,\u201d said U.S.\nTransportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. \u201cWith funds from President Biden&#8217;s\nBipartisan Infrastructure Law, we&#8217;re helping modernize air traffic control\ntowers in smaller communities that have not always received adequate resources\nfrom Washington, D.C.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/bil\/airport-infrastructure\/fct\">View a data visualization<\/a> of the airports receiving funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese investments expand the resources available to\nairports and help ensure airport traffic control towers across the country and\nthe men and women who work in them are able to effectively do their jobs and\ncommunicate with pilots,\u201d said FAA Associate Administrator for Airports,\nShannetta R. Griffin, P.E. \u201cNot only does this help improve safety at our\nairports, but it creates good-paying jobs and helps boost local economies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airports receiving funding today include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>$2 million to Laughlin\/Bullhead International\nAirport in Arizona: This award funds Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT)\nimprovements identified in the ATCT Facility Needs Assessment that was funded\nby an FY2023 FAA Contract Tower grant. Improvements include fire protection,\nFAA communications and other equipment, security, electrical, mechanical,\ninterior enhancements, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act\n(ADA).<\/li><li>$2 million to University of Oklahoma &#8211; Max\nWestheimer Airport in Norman, Oklahoma: This award funds a portion of the\nconstruction of a new ATCT to replace the existing facility. The replacement\nwill correct line of sight and security issues, meet ADA compliance, and be\nfitted with energy efficient HVAC and associated systems.<\/li><li>$2 million to Valley International Airport in\nHarlingen, Texas: This award funds a portion of the construction of for a new\nreplacement ATCT to correct the line of sight, ensure ADA compliance, and\naddress structural integrity issues.<\/li><li>$1.3 million to Jefferson City Memorial Airport\nin Missouri: This award funds a portion of the construction of an ATCT with a\n435-square-foot floor inside the tower to replace the 1973 temporary tower\nfacility.<\/li><li>$1.29 million to Bend Municipal Airport in\nOregon: This award funds a portion of the construction of a new ATCT. <\/li><li>$1.2 million to Griffiss International Airport\nin Rome, New York: This award funds the rehabilitation of the existing\n40-year-old ATCT. The project will include replacement of the roof, lighting,\nflooring, window shades, and aged communication and recording equipment. The\nproject will also renovate the restroom and break rooms, improve the electrical\nand security systems, and repair windows.<\/li><li>$1.2 million to Arnold Palmer Regional Airport\nin Latrobe, Pennsylvania: This award funds phase II of rehabilitating the\nexisting 43-year-old ATCT and includes the installation of a new elevator.<\/li><li>$1.1 million to Golden Triangle Regional Airport\nin Columbus, Mississippi: This award funds the rehabilitation of the existing\n20-year-old ATCT to include the elevator, roof, mechanical, lighting, windows,\ninterior and exterior finishes, and building systems.<\/li><li>$1.05 million to Mankato Regional Airport in\nMinnesota: This award funds the first phase for an ATCT construction to include\nthe required National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Assessment, and\narchitectural and engineering design.&nbsp; <\/li><li>$1 million to Kissimmee Gateway Airport in\nOrlando, Florida: This award funds the design of a replacement ATCT to meet the\ncurrent FAA visual performance criteria increasing the eye height from 43 feet\nto 85 feet.<\/li><li>$1 million to Albuquerque Double Eagle II\nAirport in New Mexico: This award funds the rehabilitation and upgrade of the\nATCT to include a new HVAC system, new roof, addition of LED lighting fixtures,\nreplacement of elevator controls and equipment, replacement of cab solar\nshades, replacement of the emergency generator, and reconfiguration of\ncontroller consoles.<\/li><li>$850,000 to Cheyenne Regional Airport in\nWyoming: This award funds ATCT building improvements including water intrusion\nsealant and prevention, door and window replacement, HVAC and electrical\nimprovements and other general repairs. <\/li><li>$750,000 to Olive Branch Airport in Mississippi:\nThis award funds the rehabilitation and upgrade of the existing ATCT including\ncommunication equipment, roof, windows, shades, and airfield lighting control.<\/li><li>$675,000 to Cobb County International Airport in\nAtlanta, Georgia: This award funds the replacement of equipment in the existing\nATCT on the tower minimum equipment list that have reached the end of their\nuseful lives. <\/li><li>$620,628 to Victoria Regional Airport in Texas:\nThis award funds the upgrading of critical communications and weather reporting\nequipment in the existing ATCT.<\/li><li>$500,000 to Fullerton Municipal in California:\nThis award funds the rehabilitation of portions of the ATCT with improvements\nincluding an ADA compliant stairway, restroom upgrade, sound insulation,\nIT\/security, lighting, and electrical and utility upgrades.<\/li><li>$500,000 to Ardmore Municipal Airport in\nOklahoma: This award funds the renovation of the existing ATCT to include new\nwindows, HVAC system, and communications equipment. <\/li><li>$360,000 to Caldwell Executive Airport in Idaho:\nThis award funds the preliminary design and environmental study for a new ATCT.\n<\/li><li>$350,000 to Battle Creek Executive Airport at\nKellogg Field in Michigan: This award funds improvements to the existing ATCT\nto include upgrading communication equipment and installing shades for all\ntower cab windows.<\/li><li>$254,372 to Lawrence J. Timmerman in Milwaukee,\nWisconsin: This award funds improvements to the existing ATCT to include\nreplacement windows, exterior doors, metal facade panels and insulation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s funding is from the FAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/bil\/airport-infrastructure\/fct\">Airport Infrastructure Grants<\/a> Federal Contract Tower Competitive Grant program and comes on the heels of nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/newsroom\/biden-harris-administration-announces-nearly-1-billion-grants-bipartisan-infrastructure\">$1 billion in funding<\/a> for 114 airports across the country through the Airport Terminals Program. These grants continue efforts to improve safety by upgrading and building control towers in small towns and at regional airports to sustain, construct, repair, improve, modernize, replace or relocate airport-owned towers and install communications equipment.
