Mayor Kenneth Alexander, Willmeng President Mike Mongelli and AIM Campus Executive Director Rodney Fitzsimmons.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phoenix Rising Investments (PRI) recently celebrated the\ngrand opening of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance\u2019s (AIM) first Phoenix\ncampus in the AMPlify Riverpoint business district. The new AIM campus is\nlocated in AMPlify Riverpoint at 4025 S. 32nd Street in Phoenix, just south of\nPhoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and just four miles from South\nMountain High School, which has an exploratory aviation program. AIM has\nentered into a partnership with South Mountain to offer dual-credit aviation\nmaintenance programs and has an ongoing partnership with American Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/PRI-and-AIM-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28182\" width=\"280\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PRI-and-AIM-edit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PRI-and-AIM-edit-300x251.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><figcaption><em> Phoenix Rising Investments Owner Mike Hsiung and AIM President Joel English pose in one of the two service hangars at AIM\u2019s new Phoenix training and education facility.<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe selected this area not because it\u2019s a four-mile drive to\nthe airport but because the South Mountain Village is an area that we\nidentified as a place where we could bring great opportunities,\u201d said AIM\nPresident Joel English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, PRI recognized AMPlify Riverpoint\u2019s potential as an\noffice-to-industrial redevelopment candidate due to its access to power\ninfrastructure, good structural quality, and strategic location. Situated\nadjacent to high-powered overhead lines and offering direct access to the I-10\n&#8211; as well as being 1\u00c2\u00bd miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport &#8211; the property was\nan ideal choice for users who demand highly sought-out features like ample\npower and proximity to their workforce, or in AIM\u2019s case, their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mayor-Gallego-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28185\" width=\"219\" height=\"155\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mayor-Gallego-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mayor-Gallego-edit-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><figcaption><em> Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego delivers remarks during the grand opening event for AIM\u2019s new Phoenix facility. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>AIM has a nationwide network of campuses dedicated to\nproviding high-quality, industry-focused training and education for the next\ngeneration of skilled professionals in aviation, HVAC, industrial manufacturing\ntechnician and welding trades. This building marks AIM\u2019s 15th campus, extending\ntheir nationwide presence to the Arizona market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a very exciting day for us and we are an aviation\ncity, this is one of our key industries in this community, so I cannot tell you\nhow happy it makes me that we\u2019re turning a former call center into a center of\neducation for high-wage and high-skilled employment,\u201d said Phoenix Mayor Kate\nGallego. \u201cBefore I became mayor, I worked in economic development, and\nworkforce development is an issue that is near and dear to me, so improving the\nworkforce and attracting and retaining companies is something I am committed\nto.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hangar-at-AIM-Phoenix-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28183\" width=\"311\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hangar-at-AIM-Phoenix-edit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hangar-at-AIM-Phoenix-edit-300x176.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>PRI led the way in development for the new vision at AMPlify\nRiverpoint. Evolution Design was the design partner and Willmeng Construction\nled the team that transformed an 80,309-square-foot call center into a modern\neducational and training space. The scope of work entailed the addition of 15\nnew classrooms, a welding room, a composite lab, and two large airplane\nhangars. Sized at approximately 21,000 SF and featuring 40-foot-high doors, the\nhangars can accommodate work on planes and helicopters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grand opening was attended by several notable guests,\nincluding Gallego. Also on hand was Norfolk, Virginia Mayor and AIM Chancellor,\nKenny Alexander; The Head of Maintenance for American Airlines, Mark Miner; AIM\nfounder, Gerald Yagen; AIM President, Joel English; and Willmeng President,\nMike Mongelli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lounge-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28184\" width=\"321\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lounge-edit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lounge-edit-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 321px) 100vw, 321px\" \/><figcaption><em>The Lounge area at the new Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Phoenix. Developer Phoenix Rising Investments transformed a former call center into an educational and training center for the aviation industry, with partnerships already lined up with American Airlines and South Mountain High School. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI just want to say congratulations, especially to the AIM\nleaders and all of the folks that have been working hard to open this facility\nthat will serve the aviation community and what it stands for,\u201d said Mark\nMiner, Head of Maintenance for American Airlines. \u201cWe support a lot of the\nschools like this, it&#8217;s important to sustain the aviation industry. And we take\nthat partnership seriously, not only for ourselves but also for the whole\nschool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another feature of the new campus is the American Airlines\ncommunity room.
