{"id":28150,"date":"2024-03-17T23:43:25","date_gmt":"2024-03-17T23:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28150"},"modified":"2024-03-17T23:43:27","modified_gmt":"2024-03-17T23:43:27","slug":"faa-ends-discretionary-enforcement-policy-on-drone-remote-identification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/faa-ends-discretionary-enforcement-policy-on-drone-remote-identification\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Ends Discretionary Enforcement Policy on Drone Remote Identification"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pilots who operate drones that are required to be registered must comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-14\/chapter-I\/subchapter-F\/part-89\">Remote ID Rule<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2023, the FAA issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2023\/09\/15\/2023-20074\/enforcement-policy-regarding-operator-compliance-deadline-for-remote-identification-of-unmanned\">policy<\/a> for exercising discretion in determining whether to take enforcement action for drone operators who were not able to comply with the Remote ID rule. That policy ended on March 16, 2024. Operators who do not comply after that date could face fines and suspension or revocation of their drone pilot certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/114\/plaws\/publ190\/PLAW-114publ190.pdf\">directed the FAA<\/a> to develop standards for remotely identifying operators and owners of drones and issue regulations or guidance based on those standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remote ID lays the foundation of the safety and security\ngroundwork needed for more complex drone operations.
