{"id":28130,"date":"2024-03-12T01:36:35","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T01:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28130"},"modified":"2024-03-12T01:36:36","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T01:36:36","slug":"nbaa-president-bidens-budget-would-harm-an-essential-american-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-president-bidens-budget-would-harm-an-essential-american-industry\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA: President Biden\u2019s Budget Would Harm an Essential American Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) expressed\ndeep concern over the Biden administration\u2019s Fiscal Year 2025 budget request,\nissued to Congress today, which includes multiple proposals that would be\nharmful to an essential American industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration\u2019s sweeping plan would hurt\nbusiness aviation and the jobs and communities that depend on it and make it\nharder for U.S. companies to compete in a global economy,\u201d Bolen said. \u201cAmong\nthe proposals that single out business aviation for onerous treatment is a\nfive-fold fuel tax increase, even though current fuel taxes already cover the\nincremental cost imposed on the aviation system. We urge Congress to tell the\npresident that his gambit won\u2019t fly with the citizens, companies and\ncommunities that rely on business aviation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolen noted that business aviation supports 1.2 million jobs\nand contributes $250 billion to GDP. Business aircraft are used to optimize\nefficiency, productivity and flexibility, mostly by small and mid-sized\ncompanies, and sometimes by the president\u2019s own Cabinet members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to independent studies, the majority of business\naviation flights carry mid-level personnel \u2013 like technical and engineering\nstaff and managers, as well as company clients and customers \u2013 largely to small\ntowns and communities with little or no airline service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The administration\u2019s budget proposal reflects comments made\nby President Biden in his March 7 State of the Union speech, which echoed\npolicy statements issued just hours before his remarks.
