{"id":28079,"date":"2024-03-11T00:58:54","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T00:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saj.pachecostudios.com?p=28079"},"modified":"2024-03-11T00:59:40","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T00:59:40","slug":"nbaa-challenges-bidens-call-for-singling-out-business-aviation-with-punitive-tax-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nbaa-challenges-bidens-call-for-singling-out-business-aviation-with-punitive-tax-treatment\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NBAA Challenges Biden\u2019s Call for Singling Out Business Aviation with Punitive Tax Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) responded to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/03\/07\/fact-sheet-president-biden-is-fighting-to-reduce-the-deficit-cut-taxes-for-working-families-and-invest-in-america-by-making-big-corporations-and-the-wealthy-pay-their-fair-share\/\">tax proposals for business aviation<\/a> referenced in President Biden\u2019s recent State of the Union speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf course, every American business should pay the taxes\nthey owe, but President Biden has unfairly chosen to target those who use\nbusiness aviation, even though the vast majority of flights are taken by U.S.\ncompanies to help them compete effectively in a global marketplace,\u201d NBAA\nPresident and CEO Ed Bolen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness aviation allows companies to optimize efficiency,\nproductivity and flexibility and access hard-to-reach communities across the\ncountry with little or no airline service. That\u2019s why the president\u2019s own\nCabinet members sometimes use business aircraft to do their jobs and visit with\npeople in towns and cities across the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolen continued: \u201cThe IRS has not identified a compliance\ngap in business aviation, which in fact is an industry that supports 1.2\nmillion jobs and contributes $250 billion to the nation\u2019s economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most business aviation aircraft use is for business\npurposes, Bolen added. According to independent studies, the majority of\nbusiness aviation flights carry mid-level personnel, including technical and\nengineering staff and managers, as well as company clients and customers. Most\norganizations using business aviation are small or medium-sized businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies that use business aviation are expected to operate\nin full compliance with tax laws and applicable Securities and Exchange\nCommission rules. NBAA organizes tax seminars twice-yearly to educate members\non compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness aviation is an industry that is essential to\nAmerica\u2019s economy and transportation system,\u201d Bolen said. \u201cIt supports jobs,\nconnects communities, helps companies succeed and provides humanitarian lift in\ntimes of crisis.
